Green Exercise Days

Green Exercise Days are outdoor, educational field trips and/or community service experiences in our gardens. Students on field trips will learn about neighborhood health, urban agriculture, and environmental science, while gaining hands-on experience in the gardens. Corporate or community groups can join us for community service opportunities completing necessary projects at one or both gardens. All events involve teamwork, communication skills, and commitment to a common goal. All participants (all ages) must wear gloves, which will be provided. We will provide supplies, instruction, and leadership.

Where & When?

Green Exercise Days are outdoors in Jefferson Gardens (115th Street and 2nd Avenue) and Mad Fun Farm (98th Street & Third Avenue).

Groups may schedule Green Exercise Days during the school day or on select Saturdays on a weekly, bi-monthly, monthly, quarterly, or annual field basis.

Children Will Build Their:

Understanding of food systems

Self-esteem by making core decisions

Independence as they learn to move around the gardens through an outdoor, educational course

NOTES:

    • K - 12th graders are invited to join us for educational field trips or community service events
    • Corporate and Community Groups are invited to join us for community service events
    • Teachers must participate with their students. Principals must approve field trips BEFORE permission slips are signed.
    • Participants' parent or guardian must bring signed permission slips (back and front) and follow CS' Code of Conduct.

Something I like about the program is that the students are learning how to help the enviropment  and keep their community clean. The fact that the kids are actively participating helps develop the motor skills of the kids.
